Holy Eucharist, Rite I
Our Sunday mornings begin with a traditional Rite One Eucharist from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. The service includes a full sermon, some choir music and the occasional hymn to sing. Lay Readers & Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist at this service too, incorporating our volunteers. We pray together in the words that are reminiscent of our past and look ahead to the future that God promises us in faith and love. |

Holy Eucharist, Rite II
 |
Our largest service of the day is our 10:15am service which utilizes the Rite Two worship. The language is more contemporary, the music surrounds us from our full parish choir from start to finish, acolytes assist in the worship along with Lay Readers & LEMs and we all gather to rejoice in God's love for us and our fath as a community. |

Sunday, 6:00pm.
Service of Holy Eucharist
Our 3rd Sunday service of the day is held in our chapel at 6pm. This quiet and simple service is a traditional Eucharist with no music. Between 10-50 folks gather at this service if they have been unable to make it in the morning, if they are looking for a bit less stimulus and a bit more quietude. We welcome anyone who is looking for "similar but different" to this simple and humble gathering.

Holy Eucharist & Healing Service
Communion and prayer are not just reserved for Sundays at St. Barnabas. On Wednesdays at 10am, we gather in the chapel for a brief service of Eucharist and prayers. Deacon Jim Smith leads the prayers and offers a short homily.
At this service, we also offer the Anointing for Healing. Any and all persons are invited to come and kneel and ask for special prayers of healing for themselves or those they love. The clergy will anoint the person with oil that has been blessed by the bishop of our diocese and pray for the healing they seek. This is a special practice that can be found all over the world and is a soothing and gentle way to ask God to be in our lives.

Evensong
3rd Thursdays, 6:30pm
Join us each 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm in the church to chant Evensong. This brief and meditative service will remember one of the Episcopal Church's "Lesser Feasts & Fasts"--the saints & persons we remember who have influenced us through their life and faith. The Evensongs last only 40 minutes and we will enjoy the Parish Choir's participation as well. This wonderful service is open to everyone--no experience necessary!

Worship Ministries: Assisting at the Altar
Acolytes
Worship isn't just for adults! It takes all of us to make our services the beautiful offerings to God that they are and that's where our acolytes come in!
ACOLYTES are trained in roles
that support us in worship. They lead the procession & recession in and out of church. They carry crosses and banners and candles to help make our worship reverent and joyful. They are leaders in the church and we're happy to partner in ministry with them. |
|
 |
Trainings to become an acolyte are held annually in August, but if you would like to volunteer before the training comes around, we're happy to schedule a one-on-one session.
Contact Kate (Director of Youth Ministries) or Rev. Erika if you are interested in participating in the Acolyte program.

Altar Guild
 |
Our worship experiences are supported and enhanced by the work of the ministry of the laity. Our ALTAR GUILD prepares the altar for Eucharist and cares for our altar ware. Their careful attention to detail makes sure that everything is made beautiful as we bring it before God in worship. |
Contact Rev. Erika if you are interested in participating in any of these ministries.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMS) serve at the altar assisting clergy in the administration of Holy Eucharist. This means that LEMs serve the chalice of wine to the congregation during communion and also perform other duties.
Rev. Erika oversees the LEMs with the help of Lay Leader, Larry Brainard (pictured left).
Anyone who would like to volunteer to become a Lay Eucharistic Minister should contact Larry or Rev. Erika to find out when the next training is going to be. We hold the trainings annually, but if you would like to volunteer sooner, an individual session can be arranged! If you would like to receive a training manual to familiarize yourself with the various tasks of a LEM, please contact Rev. Erika or Larry.

Lay Readers
Lay Readers read the Holy Scriptures and lead in the reading of the Creed and the Prayers of the People during our worship services. Their interpretation of the Scriptures and their offering of prayer truly make our worship a liturgy--the work of the people.
Again, Rev. Erika oversees this ministry with the outstanding help of Lay Leader, Larry Brainard. There are also regular trainings offered for those who would like to become a Lay Reader and a training manual is also available for this ministry.
Contact Rev. Erika or Larry to get involved. |

Ushers
 |
Upon arriving at St. Barnabas, some of the first people you will meet are our friendly and helpful ushers. They are happy to provide you with a bulletin for the service, help you find a seat, show you where to find restrooms, childcare, Sunday School classrooms and more. Their smiling faces and great attitude help make our worship together run smoothly and we are grateful!
Jim Rector is our devoted Lay Leader of the Usher team.
Contact Rev. Erika or Jim Rector if you are interested
in participating in this special hospitality ministry. |
