Morning & Evening Prayer at St. Barnabas St. Barnabas now offers the services of Morning Prayer & Evening Prayer every Wednesday in the Chapel. All are invited to come and enjoy these services. The Chapel is located on the south end of campus between the bell tower & the flags. The below resources are for our Lay Officiants who generously give of their time and talent to lead these prayer services for the congregation. 1. Lectionary: To find which lessons you will use on a particular day, use the following website: http://satucket.com/lectionary/ Scroll to the middle of the page to find the section titled: Daily Office and Daily Eucharistic Lectionary. Find the week that applies to you and select NRSV. On the left side of the page, scroll down to find the readings for Wednesday. You'll see these things: a) Psalms listed for both morning & evening. As you can see, the lectionary prescribes many, many verses! It is not necessary to use all of them. Please choose 15 verses (give or take a few) to use. b) Scripture lessons for the day from the Old Testament, New Testament & the Gospel. Here's what to use: If you're officiating morning, read the OT & the Gospel. If you're officiating evening, use the NT & the Gospel. 2. Here are copies of the bulletins that will be used along with an Officiant's version that should assist you as you prepare and as you lead the worship. They will be the most useable if you print them: Morning Prayer Bulletin Morning Prayer Officiant's Bulletin Evening Prayer Bulletin Evening Prayer Officiant's Bulletin The most important part of officiating is to quiet your heart and feel prayerful. Take whatever time you need at the start of the service to ensure this one piece and you will be an effective leader of worship. Your peacefulness will allow for your worshippers to have an open path to connect with Jesus during these services and that, above all, is our goal. Thank you for all you are doing to engage our parish in the Episcopal tradition of daily prayer and thank you for being faithful members of our parish family! Peace & Grace to you all!
