Pastoral Care at St. Barnabas
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who
weep.
Romans 12:15
Our goal:
that no member of the Saint Barnabas family
suffer alone.
It is our intent to show the love of Christ to one another.
Every person can participate in our Pastoral Care Ministry in their own way,
using the gifts God has provided them for the good of others, and for their
own spiritual growth.
The clergy, staff and trained lay persons at St. Barnabas are
available to respond to pastoral concerns as they are presented.
Pastoral Care at St. Barnabas is not only an organized effort,
but also a concept of caring for each other in a loving way
as part of our faith journey.
During 2007, our clergy and Pastoral Care teams made over 1,000 hospital and home visits. If you have a need or know of a need or would like to receive Holy Eucharist, call the church office or Fr. Phil.

Prayer Requests
We keep the needs of
our St. Barnabas family in our prayers at all times.
During the Sunday PRAYERS
OF THE PEOPLE we pray, by name, for members of St. Barnabas or their close
family members who are ill or are hospitalized
or are recovering. In addition we pray by name for members of the St. Barnabas family who are serving in harm's way in the Armed Services. Call the Church Office or Fr. Phil to request inclusion in the prayers.
The SPARROWS group
meets regularly at the church to pray. You may contact Rev. Phil Carlson at (480)355-9752 or pcarlson@saintbarnabas.org to learn how to be involved in any of these ministries...

Pastoral Care Committee
This committee meets with clergy each week
to review the needs of our St. Barnabas family members who
are hospitalized, in care facilities or are home bound. Together, they work to assure that as many persons as need visits receive them and that all of the church family feels cared for in their hour of need.
Every effort
is made to ensure that our prayer and people resources are
directed to meeting those needs and that our goal of no member of the St.
Barnabas family suffering alone is met.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors
Lay persons are trained to take the Holy Eucharist
to parishioners who are shut-in at home or in care facilities.
Anyone may request this service by calling the church office at 480.948.5560 or emailing Fr. Phil. If you are interested in becoming a Lay Eucharistic Visitor, Fr. Phil would be happy to talk to you about training for this special one-on-one ministry. Often this involves taking the bread and wine that has been blessed on Sunday morning during the worship services to the people who cannot be with us for a variety of reasons. It is an important way of reminding them that they are an integral part of our community.

Holy Baptism

You may arrange for an infant, child, youth or adult Baptism by calling the church
office. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is celebrated on pre-scheduled Sundays and there is a brief pre-baptismal course for anyone seeking the sacrament, including parents of newborns. Fr. Brent facilitates this session and shares the joy, history and importance of this special act.
Please contact Fr. Brent at (480) 355-9751 brent@saintbarnabas.org

Confirmation
8th & 9th grades
Wednesday evenings
(September
through May)
7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
To
help our young people (who have become members in the Body of Christ by their
Baptism) to understand, appreciate, and claim their Christian
faith as maturing disciples of Christ.
We desire to help
them continue their faith journey, their commitment to
Jesus Christ as Savior and say YES! to becoming a mature adult participant in the Episcopal Church through confirmation.
As
they transition from early adolescence to pre-adulthood,
we want them to have a strong relationship with God,
their church, their family, other adults in the church
and their peers. |
Please contact Kate Steider, Youth Minister for more information about this program...

Adult Confirmations
|
Confirmation is a pastoral sacrament that is conferred to a person by the laying on of hands by the Bishop at his annual visit (usually in the Spring). It marks our adult commitment to the church and our desire to be in relationship with Jesus. Confirmation is most often done when one is in their teenage years, but more and more, we find that people are finding their way to the church as adults and this is a meaningful way to mark this growth in faith.
If you would like information on being confirmed, contact us at 480.948.5560. |
