Pastoral Care

The people had a Big Idea:

Let’s engage everyone in caring for one another at St. Barnabas.

Let’s grow

Lay Pastoral Care.

So we looked at all the caring that was already happening and began to imagine growing.

 This is what’s happening now.

For lots of years...

Wednesday Morning Pastoral Care group with Fr. Phil remembers parishioner’s life events with cards and calls and visits and delivering Holy Communion. They have a tender way of being with us in the best and most difficult moments. Contact Fr. Phil This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Informally in all of our small groups (from faith formation to supper club) our people are taking care of one another; bringing meals to new parents or calling to be sure everthing is  alright when you notice someone hasn’t been around in awhile.Contact yourself -  whenever you notice you haven’t seen someone in awhile, just pickup the phone or send a message to let them know they are missed!

Dreaming into the future...

Pastoral Care Core Team meets monthly to be sure that we are addressing our immediate pastoral care needs and moving forward with our vestry’s direction that we expand lay pastoral care at St. B. This visioning and oversight  team has a dream that one day every one of our brothers and sisters at St. B will see themselves as lay pastoral care ministers – intentionally looking for ways to care for one another and feeling comfortable asking for care when they need it.  Contact Connie Weatherup: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
