Hearts & Hands
Over 12 years ago... H&H Logo
An idea was hatched...
A vision started growing...
An event was created...
and Hearts & Hands was born.

The idea: a fundraiser that supports all of our mission ministries--over a dozen of them!

The vision: eliminate weekly requests for monetary support for individual missions by inspiring people to give from a place of joy and celebration.

The event: an auction, silent and live, filled with great items and opportunities donated by hundreds of people. All this, paired with a night of celebration and festivities.

The Hows & Whys: There is no Missions line-item in our budget so our financial giving to various organizations who are our Mission Partners is determined by this event. All the money collected at Hearts & Hands are gifts that are above and beyond the generous annual pledges made by our parishioners for the operating budget of the church. We are taking part in the church's mission to reconcile the whole world to God--and this is one of the ways that our parish does that: through service to others. And this doesn't even touch on all the countless ways that this parish serves the world that are beyond this. The church is inspired by their love of Jesus to express that love through service. We'd love for you to join us.

Exploratory Missions
N/A

See below for how you can discern a new mission at St. B's!

Exploratory Ministries

With over 500 worshippers coming through our doors each Sunday, it is only natural that our interests, callings and desires would run the gamut in terms of how we serve God. Already, we have over a dozen Mission Ministries that help us express our commitment to God, but what do we do when someone has an idea to involve the parish family in another ministry?

We want it to be a calling for all of our parishioners, or at least a fair portion of them, so to discern that calling, we created the Exploratory Discernment Process for all new Mission Ministries.

Those with a new idea for a Mission project are asked to develop a leadership team to assist them with the discernment, complete a Planning Worksheet, and develop a timeline on which they will implement the Discernment Plan.

The Leadership team is given a shepherd/mentor from the Missions Coordinating Committee to help them with any questions or guidance. The Missions Coordinating Committee (MCC) receives regular updates on their discernment progress. At the end of the established timeline, the discernment team meets with members of the MCC to determine whether the exploration has lead to any conclusions or if they need more time.

In some cases, the parish finds a strong call to the new ministry. In some cases, the parish does not. We celebrate the direction that God leads us and feel assured that even if our parish is not called to a particular ministry, God is working in the hearts of people at other parishes who will help that minisitry feel supported.

If you are a parishioner of St. Barnabas and have an interest in involving the parish in a Mission Ministry that is dear to your heart, contact Rev. Erika to learn more about how to launch the discernment process.
