Hearts & Hands raises $92,000!

Friday, February 29, 2008

300 people came together for our 9th annual Hearts & Hands auction, dinner and dance to raise funds for Mission Ministries. We raised an awesome $92,000 including

$16, 000 for the "Give From the Heart" which goes directly to Family Promise to assist them in their Ministry among homeless families.

A great time was had by all during the silent and live auctions. The dinner was amazing and the Hip Pocket band got everybody dancing!  A huge thank you to all St. B's parishioners that contributed in any way, great or small, to make this night a huge success!

Annual Meeting & Ministries Fair

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

So much fun was had by so many people thanks to the efforts of the volunteers involved in the ministries here at

St. Barnabas.  Some of the ministries are represented here - East Valley Men's Center, Office Volunteers & Book club , and the Vestry

Rain is a blessing to the desert in Arizona - this year our Ministries Fair was blessed by so much rain that we moved into Hutton Hall. Despite the change in venue, an informative time accompanied by a tasty  lunch was had by all in attendance.

The Annual Meeting was held with elections of new members of the Vestry as well as the appointment of a new Senior Warden and Chancellor. Please visit our "Who we are Page"

to view pictures of our Vestry. Our outgoing Vestry members, Senior Warden and Chancellor were thanked by all in attendance for their years of dedicated service.

Christmas Pageant

December 24, 2007

The children gathered at the 3:00pm Christmas Eve service to tell the story of the birth of Jesus to the congregation in place of a sermon. The story was told by the shepherds, wise men, angels, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, sheep, donkeys, cows and at least one camel!  It was a wonderful opportunity for the congregation to receive the Word of God from the youngest members of our parish!

Consecration Sunday

November 11, 2007

Each year, the St. Barnabas family gathers to make their offerings to God in thanksgiving for all the blessings of their lives.  This year, we celebrated with guest preacher, The Rt. Rev. William Burrill, who preached a wonderful and moving sermon

St. B's parishioners celebrated the offerings they made to God at a brunch following each service. Good times had by all AND the food was delicious!

An Episcopal ice sculpture! We've reached a new level of creativity!!

Thank you to the Stewardship Team who worked so hard to coordinate all of this!

Family Camp Reunion

October 27, 2007

Those who attended our annual Family Camp at Chapel Rock in September just had to reunite for a bit more fun and games to celebrate some Halloween favorites!!  There were chocolate spiders to eat, smore-roasting, a mummy contest and of course, bobbing for apples!  A great time was had by all and everyone is invited to plan ahead for next year's family camp which will be in September of 2008!  See you there!!

Fr. Brent & Deborah Stevens show off their fancy mummy contest styles!

Little Wilson proudly displays the apple he "bobbed" for (along with his various other play balls--do we have a sports star rising among us?!).

Krys & Russell Estabrooks work up the courage to enjoy chocolate "spiders" as a special treat!  Brave souls they are!

Blessing of the Animals

October 6, 2007

We had a great turnout at our annual Blessing of the Animals. It was an all-dog event this year--everything from an English Bulldog (in full regalia!) to Golden Retrievers to happy mixed breeds. A good time was had by all!
